When given a lit cone of incense, the serpent breathes smoke! This smoker stater as two balls of white stoneware clay that were thrown on the pottery wheel. Once firm enough to wor k, it was trimmed then joined with a hand-sculpted serpent and fungi. After slowly drying, it was fired in the kiln, glazed then fired once more. It is adorned with real, preserved moss. The serpent symbolizes surrender, release, death and rebirth. In order to survive, serpents must routinely shed what keeps them from growing and no longer serves.
