One of the first in the region to introduce improved Typica varieties, and still at the forefront of what the area is becoming. His farm has placed in the Bracamoros Regional Coffee Competition, a meaningful benchmark in a region still finding its footing on the coffee map. He's not standing still: in 2025 he's implementing enhanced post-harvest processing with expert technical support, which means what's already a clean, expressive cup is only going to get more refined. Where it comes from Palanda sits in Ecuador's Southern Amazon, in Zamora-Chinchipe province. This region is better known as the birthplace of cocoa, now quietly establishing itself as a serious coffee country. The soils here are highly productive, the growing conditions ideal, and the altitude gives the coffee the structure and acidity that make a washed Typica like this one top-notch. Processing Washed is the standard in Ecuador. Cherry is depulped, fermented, and washed before drying on raised beds, often under shade cover to control the pace. Full removal of the fruit means the cup is clean and variety-forward, letting the Typica's natural clarity come through without interference.
