The Edelrid Spoc is an ultralight progress capture pulley, often seen used as a rope clamp for ascents, a simple pulley, or a pulley with a backstop for hauling and crevasse rescue .The 92% efficient ball bearing pulley and a spring-loaded cam that locks automatically make it well-suited to demanding conditions, with the cam's toothed design maintaining grip even on icy or muddy ropes. A cable pull releases the backstop with one hand, and the cam can be fixed open to use the device as a straightforward pulley. The oversized carabiner hole allows the device to rotate fully around a screwgate, making installation quick and simple.The Spoc regularly appears in discussions about top rope solo setups and is a common choice for a backup device.
