Meet the editorial duo that turns your young learner into a proofreading pro. Editor-in-Chief® Beginning 1 and Beginning 2 sharpen grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization through real editing—not mindless drills. Instead of circling random commas or choosing between there/their/they're, students dive straight into short stories and letters packed with intentional mistakes. Each passage invites him to read carefully, mark what's off, and rewrite with precision—making grammar rules feel useful, not random. Beginning 1 starts with one-error-at-a-time editing for newer writers, while Beginning 2 raises the stakes with stories that include multiple errors across different mechanics. Reading levels hover around grades 4–5, so while the "Beginning" name is accurate for editing skills, students need solid reading foundations to thrive. Every book includes: A handy grammar and usage guide (so kids don't have to guess). An editing checklist (so they can double-check like pros). Complete answer keys (so you're not stuck proofreading his proofreading). Whether your child is new to editing or just needs a boost in sentence savvy, this series builds real-world writing confidence—one well-polished paragraph at a time.
