A charming Edwardian oak vanity chest with a well-proportioned design and plenty of traditional character. Its upright mirror, decorative upper shelf and neatly arranged drawers cr eate an elegant piece that would make an attractive and practical addition to a bedroom or dressing area. The upper section features an adjustable rectangular mirror supported between turned finials, with a raised shelf and three open compartments beneath for toiletries, jewellery or other smaller items. Below are three spacious drawers, each fitted with decorative period-style metal handles. The vanity chest has been carefully stripped to remove its previous finish before being prepared and finished with several coats of clear lacquer. This protects the timber while allowing the natural grain and character of the oak to remain visible. The original mirror displays some age-related foxing and imperfections, particularly around the edges, as shown in the photographs. There are also minor marks and signs of previous use consistent with the age and character of the piece.
