What our Experts Think Precision Back Stop for Press Brake Bending — the EDWARDS Press Brake Back Gauge (ED9‑PR135) provides an adjustable, positive stop for setting up repeatable bends, eliminating guesswork and reducing setup time. Wide Machine Compatibility — works with Edwards Ironworker brake tooling and press brake tooling on 20 T, 40 T shop presses and larger ironworkers (40 T–120 T, Elite models), giving consistent bend positioning across your equipment. Simple Hand‑Crank Adjustment — an easy‑to‑operate crank lets you slide the backstop to the exact brake position you need, improving workflow speed and repeatability. Durable, Shop‑Ready Build — rugged construction holds up under frequent use, maintaining reliable performance over time. Improves Productivity — ideal for repetitive bending jobs in fabrication and structural applications by ensuring consistent bend setup with minimal rework. Q&A Q1: What is the ED9‑PR135 Press Brake Back Gauge?A: It’s an adjustable back gauge stop designed to work with Edwards press brake tooling on ironworkers or shop presses, helping set precise and repeatable bending positions. Q2: What does this attachment do?A: Provides a positive stop that bolts to the back of your press brake station, letting you position material consistently for accurate, repeatable bends across multiple workpieces. Q3: Which machines is it compatible with?A: Works with Edwards ironworkers and shop presses equipped for press brake tooling — including 40 T through 120 T models (both older and newer generations). Q4: How does it improve workflow?A: By setting an adjustable stop where you need it, it reduces layout time, minimizes setup errors, and boosts productivity when making repeated identical bends. Q5: How is it adjusted?A: A simple hand‑crank lets you glide the carriage backstop to your desired brake location quickly and lock it in place. Q6: What are its basic specs?A: Approximate overall dimensions are 27″ × 16″ × 6″, with a weight around 37 lbs — rugged construction for heavy shop use. Q7: What tasks benefit most from this gauge?A: Ideal for repetitive sheet metal bending, framework fabrication, bracket forming, or any job needing precise and repeatable bend locations. Q8: Is it easy to install?A: Yes — it bolts directly to compatible brake tooling on your ironworker or press, with no special tools required. Q9: Does it fit multiple brake tooling lengths?A: It’s designed to work with a range of Edwards brake tooling setups (e.g., 12″, 18″, 24″, 32″ press brakes) to provide consistent back‑stop support. Q10: What’s the key advantage of adding this gauge?A: It dramatically improves bend accuracy and repeatability, which is crucial for production runs or precision metalwork. Maintenance Tips Clean After Each Use: Remove metal chips and dust from rails, guides, and stops to keep positioning smooth and accurate. Lubricate Moving Components: Lightly oil guide rails, slides, and adjustment screws to reduce wear and ensure smooth travel. Check Alignment Regularly: Verify gauge squareness and parallelism with the press brake bed for consistent bends and repeatable positioning. Tighten Fasteners: Periodically inspect and secure all bolts, knobs, and locking hardware to maintain rigidity under load. Inspect for Wear or Damage: Look for bent rails, worn indexing stops, or damaged scales; repair or replace as needed to preserve precision. Protect from Corrosion: Store in a dry environment and apply rust inhibitor to exposed steel surfaces when not in use.
