Important Info: Canistel varieties come in many different shapes and sizes. There's long and skinny, short and fat, as big as your head, as small as a tangerine, and everything in between. The “Small Box” will generally contain smaller pieces of fruit and the “Large Box” will generally contain larger pieces of fruit. Origin: Canistel is native to Mexico and Central America. The Eggfruit we offer is grown in South Florida. Flavor Profile: The Canistel fruit, also known as Eggfruit or Yellow Sapote has a dense, cake-like texture similar to the yolk of a hard-boiled egg. How To Eat: Eggfruit may need time to ripen after delivery. Ripen at room temperature of 70 degrees or above for optimal consumption. Eggfruit is ready to eat once it is very soft all over, so much so, that you can easily cut it or pull it apart with your hands. Eggfruit may be enjoyed on its own, added to a cake, or smoothie. First come first serve, any orders that can't be shipped this season will be reserved for next season. The total weight of each box varies depending on the size, shape, and mass of the fruit: One Fruit contains one piece of fruit (sizing varies) Small Box contains up to 3-5 pounds Large Box contains up to 8-10 pounds Extra Large Box contains up to 16-20 pounds We ALWAYS recommend ordering a LARGE BOX for the best value, when compared to a Small Box. Because shipping, handling, and delivery are so expensive per package, the Large Box will contain more fruit and ultimately a better value.
