"Ever since my seminary days, I have been deeply impressed by the figure of the Curé of Ars—especially through reading his biography written by Monsignor Trochu." —John Paul II. The village of Ars is located 35 kilometers from Lyon. Reverend Vianney arrived from Écully, where he had served as an assistant priest. As he approached the village, the fog was so thick that the holy priest lost his way. He encountered some children tending their sheep; one of them, named Antoine Grivet, pointed out the path to the priest. "My little friend," the priest said to him, "you have shown me the way to Ars; I will show you the way to heaven." To write this work, the author has relied on rigorous historical documentation: testimonies from the canonization proceedings and a wealth of previously unpublished documents.
