Braided elastic, unlike knit and woven elastic, narrows as it is stretched, has a tendency to roll, and can lose its stretch if sewn through. It's a nice lightweight elastic and is most commonly used in casings and works well in sleeves and necklines. It can be used in a waistband casing, however, it's not as popular as knit and woven elastic for this purpose because of the likelihood of the elastic rolling when stretched.
