Given stable conditions, it gradually develops into a dense foreground carpet that is ideal for both stone and driftwood layouts. Elatine hydropiper performs best in high-tech planted aquariums with medium to high lighting and added CO2. It prefers cooler, stable water temperatures and is less tolerant of prolonged heat than many other carpeting plants.
