The HOG2 takes a very different approach to pitch and octave effects compared to more traditional pedal designs. Rather than simply adding an octave above or below your signal, it functions more like a full harmonic generator, capable of layering multiple intervals and synth style textures while still retaining accurate note tracking across chords and single note passages. Originally released in 2013 and discontinued in 2024, it became one of Electro Harmonix’s more feature heavy and experimental units. Alongside its octave and harmonic controls, the HOG2 includes resonant filtering, freeze functions, envelope shaping, MIDI capability, and multiple expression modes that allow sounds to shift dynamically in real time. The included expression pedal expands this further, making it possible to morph between textures and harmonic layers in a way that feels closer to a synthesizer than a conventional guitar pedal.
