Artist statement on Elephant Study: "I had been thinking about ivory. To meditate on ivory and learn more about elephants- I made this small painting of a huge subject, toned in de grees of gray against a white background looking at the viewer. For years and continuing until today elephants are killed for their ivory tusks which are valued in certain cultures.In Hindu and Buddhist religions elephants represent loyalty, wisdom and power.
