Elettaria cardamomumElettaria cardamomum is a clumping member of the ginger family with long, narrow leaves in glossy green. The blades have parallel veins, gently rippled margins and a fine pointed tip. When handled, the foliage releases a warm aromatic scent related to cardamom spice, adding a sensory detail to its tropical texture.Early growth is a tight group of slender leafy shoots. The underground rhizome gradually sends up more growth, building a dense upright clump that can reach 1.5–2 m in a warm indoor space. On mature plants, flowering stems remain low near the base and can carry pale green-white flowers marked with violet, followed by green ribbed capsules.
