Visitors to the 12th century Carisbrooke Castle have been known to encounter a variety of spirits, but one in particular has been seen and felt in the well house. On occasion, when peering into the deep well, visitors have been met by the sight of a pale young woman, floating entangled in a billowing dress. An entry from 17th century diarist Oglander tells of Elizabeth Ruffin, daughter of the Mayor of Newport, falling to her death in 1632. This ghost features blue glowing pigment. Show more
