A wonderfully characterful elm refectory table with beautiful rustic proportions and a fabulous time-worn finish. Constructed from substantial elm, the table features a thick rectangular top displaying all the wonderful natural grain, knots and variations associated with this beautiful timber. The top is supported by two heavy shaped trestle ends, united by a substantial central stretcher with traditional pegged detailing and a gently scalloped lower edge. The pale, bleached finish gives the table a relaxed, understated appearance while allowing the natural texture and character of the elm to remain the star. Its simple, architectural form is reminiscent of traditional farmhouse and monastery tables and makes it an incredibly versatile piece. A superb everyday dining table with real presence — perfect for a rustic country kitchen, French-inspired interior or equally striking contrasted with a more contemporary setting. As with all older and characterful pieces, there are variations, marks and imperfections to the timber which we feel only enhance its individual charm. Good vintage condition with age-related character and wear.
