by Margo Selby Whitstable, UK Margo Selby is a British artist and designer working in woven textiles. Her work is characterized by its geometric construction in color and sits at the intersection of art, craft and design. Alongside her handwoven art practice, Margo oversees the work of the Margo Selby Studio designing for industry partners and the production of a wide range of textile applications. Hand-crafted on traditional looms in the Varanasi region of India – these scarves are woven in super-fine lambswool and are traditionally referred to as ‘ring scarves’ as they are so fine they can be pulled through a wedding ring. A soft, gauzy textile, yet also strong and durable, these scarves are perfect for year-round use. We celebrate the handmade nature of these scarves, where each woven scarf is screen-printed by hand and eye in a small studio of skilled makers. Any minor print variations are part of the artisanal process. The collection takes inspiration from one of Margo’s earliest spot designs. The palettes were influenced by delving into the many versions of this pattern held in the studio archives.
