A classic lantern for the doorway There is a reason lanterns like this one have stayed in fashion for so long. Finished in black The body is cast in die cast aluminium and finished in a deep matte black, with a domed cap and decorative scroll bracket that echoes ironwork from a much older era. The glass panel is ribbed rather than smooth, so the light inside breaks up nicely once the bulb is lit. How it works It takes a single E27 bulb and is rated Class I, so it needs an earthed supply. Choose a dimmable bulb and it will work happily on a dimmer circuit. Where it works best Mount it either side of the front door, along a porch wall or anywhere in the garden that could use a warm, traditional glow after dark.
