The Elysia Xmax 500 is a cutting-edge analogue multiband compressor and dynamics processor for the 500 Series format featuring Class-A circuitry, integrated Mid/Side processing, multiband compression for precise frequency control, a Soft Clipper for maximising signal without digital clipping, high-end analogue metering, intuitive Smart Global Release Control, VariLink functionality for tailored compression, and a compact format suitable for mastering, mixing, and live sound applications. Built for the Masterbus Designed specifically for the master bus, the Elysia Xmax 500 offers unparalleled control over dynamics and tonal balance. Its Class-A circuitry ensures impeccable audio quality, while the Mid/Side processing preserves the natural depth and integrity of the stereo field. The unit divides the audio into low, mid, and side bands, allowing engineers to tailor the dynamics of each frequency range. This enables focused low-end response, tight and punchy midrange, and enhanced stereo width, making it a versatile solution for any genre or production style. The Soft Clipper technology, derived from Elysia's acclaimed alpha compressor, allows users to push the signal harder without risking digital distortion, ensuring clean and powerful output. Clear analogue meters provide precise feedback on signal levels, compression activity, and potential clipping, enabling professionals to fine-tune their mix with confidence. Comprehensive Tonal Control The Xmax 500 streamlines tonal shaping through its intuitive Smart Global Release Control, which adjusts compression behaviour across all bands for cohesive results. The VariLink function adds flexibility by allowing users to link the low, mid, and side bands for tailored compression responses. For more aggressive dynamics, the Punch setting boosts compression impact, while the side band mono-maker ensures a solid, centred bass foundation. Additionally, a single-knob shelving EQ simplifies overall tonal adjustments, and a variable crossover frequency ensures precision in sculpting the low end. Versatility Across Studio and Live Applications Ideal for both studio and live settings, the Elysia Xmax 500 adapts seamlessly to various workflows. Whether recording in a session studio, mixing tracks in a professional environment, mastering an album, or managing a live performance, this compact yet powerful unit delivers exceptional results. The consistent audio quality across all formats, including the portable Qube and 19" rack options, ensures engineers have access to high-end sound processing no matter their setup. Advanced Signal Flow for Maximum Clarity The signal flow of the Elysia Xmax 500 employs sophisticated Mid-Side encoding to separate the incoming stereo signal into distinct components. The Mid signal is further divided into low and mid bands, enabling three independent compressors within a single unit. Post-compression, the signal passes through a high-shelf filter, enhancing the analogue high-end, before being decoded back into stereo. The final stages include the Soft Clipper and output control, providing a polished, record-ready sound that avoids digital clipping while maintaining clarity and punch. Unmatched Power and Precision The Elysia Xmax 500 redefines analogue processing by combining innovative design with intuitive controls, making it an essential tool for mastering, mixing, and live sound engineers. With its powerful features and compact versatility, it delivers pristine audio quality, dynamic control, and tonal precision, solidifying its position as the ultimate master bus processor.
