Recently discovered in Michigan, Yooperlite rocks are Syenite rocks (igneous) that are rich and fluorescent sodalite. These seemingly normal, gray rocks glow a vibrant orange-yello w under Ultraviolet light. It is believed that glacial activity transported them from Canada to the shores along the Great Lakes. ‘Yooper’ (derived from “UP-ers”), is a term for residents living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The sodalite in the stone brings order and calmness to the mind. It encourages rational thought, objectivity, truth and intuition, along with verbalization of feelings.
