The EMG 707TWX-R is part of EMG's Dual Mode pickup options, offering both a humbucker and single coil in one housing and using a push pull pot to switch between the two. In the R (reverse) version, the single coil mode is closer to the neck giving you a sweeter Strat tone. Like the original 707TWX, the 707TWX-R eliminates the problem of a muddy low B string, adding back rich harmonic character and definition. Featuring Alnico V loaded, wide aperture coils, EMG beefs up the Low B string tone while maintaining a balanced and articulate upper register. Unlike typical 'tapped' humbuckers, the 707TWX-R has a separate coil wound for the single coil sound, providing two distinct tones in one pickup. Used equally in the bridge and neck positions. EMG's Solderless wiring makes installation easy to do on your own.The X series preamp gives the pickup a more dynamic range along with increased headroom while keeping the more traditional string-to-string balance. X series pickups also come with an Active Tone Control (VLPF) designed to roll-off (attenuate) high frequencies, similar to a typical passive tone control.
