The EMG BTC-HZ System is the HZ-compatible version of the BTC two-band active EQ, supplied as a full installation kit with the wiring layout configured so the EQ can feed from passive HZ pickups, active EMG pickups, or a mix of both. The kit contains the bass and treble pots, the EQ circuit board, the solderless quick-connect harness with the HZ-compatible input network, the output jack and the battery connector. A single 9V battery powers the EQ; the HZ pickups remain passive. The HZ designation marks out the key difference from the standard BTC System. EMG's passive HZ pickups produce a higher-impedance signal than the active and X-Series ranges, so the EQ stage needs an input network that loads the HZ coils correctly without dulling the top end. The BTC-HZ harness adds that loading network and routes the signal so the two-band shelving EQ sees the right source impedance whichever pickup type sits in front of it. Best suited to guitar builds running EMG HZ passive pickups where the player wants modest onboard bass and treble shaping, or to mixed builds combining a passive HZ pickup at one position with an active EMG at another. Pairs naturally with the F-H and H series passive guitar humbuckers and the Alexi Laiho HZ humbucker pair. Sits between the single-knob BTS-HZ and the fully-featured BQC-HZ sweepable-mid three-band as the two-band shelving option in the HZ preamp family. Complete installation kit included.
