The EMG P-CS is the ceramic-steel version of the standard EMG P, sitting one step up the family in output and aggression while staying within the same Precision Bass footprint. The pickup uses ceramic magnets driving steel pole pieces, a configuration EMG developed to add focus and clarity in the upper midrange without losing the warm low-end that defines the Precision voice. It drops straight into a standard Fender Precision Bass route and uses the same split-coil layout, so installation is identical to the standard P. Tonally the P-CS is brighter, tighter and more aggressive than the standard ceramic P. The steel pole pieces lift the attack and add cut on the top end, which helps a Precision sit through a busy guitar mix or under heavily layered keys. Fingerstyle playing comes across with more grit and definition, pick attack is sharper, and slap and pop benefit from the added high-end articulation. The active preamp keeps the output even and the noise floor low, the same as the rest of the EMG bass range. The right choice for Precision players who find the standard P too round for modern rock, metal or alternative styles, but who want to keep the familiar Precision layout.
