The EMG TBCS is the active ceramic-and-steel pickup in EMG's Thunderbird-format range, built as a direct replacement for the pickup found in Gibson Thunderbird basses and the wider family of neck-through Thunderbird-bodied instruments. Ceramic bar magnets sit beneath steel pole pieces, giving the TBCS the tighter low end, faster attack and more pronounced upper-midrange focus that defines the wider CS family across EMG's bass range. The TBCS is the more modern, more aggressive voice in the Thunderbird family. Against the broader, fuller-bodied TBDC the steel pole pieces lend a clear punch to the front of each note and an upper-midrange presence that helps the pickup cut through denser arrangements; against the Precision-voiced TBP and the Jazz-voiced TBJ it stays neutral on shaping tradition and leans on the CS-series construction for its character. The result is a Thunderbird voice tuned for rock, hard rock, modern metal and any style where the player wants the platform's signature weight with a more forward, present attack. Fits any instrument routed for the Thunderbird pickup shell with no woodwork modification. Runs on a single 9V battery and connects through EMG's solderless wiring system for tool-free installation.
