The EMG Toggle Kill Switch is a latching on/off kill switch for electric guitar or bass, built to fit a standard pot hole in a control cavity and wire in-line with the instrument's output signal. Unlike a momentary kill switch, which cuts the signal only for the duration of a press, the Toggle version locks in the open (silent) position when engaged and stays there until the player switches it back. That suits silencing the instrument between songs without needing to mute the amplifier or unplug the cable, and it makes the switch usable as a stage-safe mute in situations where a momentary switch would demand a finger held on the button. The toggle body drops into a standard pot hole, so it can replace a spare volume or tone pot on a guitar where the player wants a dedicated mute control without adding a new hole to the top of the body. Compatible with both active and passive wiring, and installs in-line with the output signal from the volume pot to the jack, so the switch cuts the guitar's output at the last stage rather than at the pickup selector, muting whatever combination of pickups is currently in circuit. Sits on the EMG switch shelf alongside the TKO momentary kill switch as the latching alternative, and alongside the three-position pickup switches (Strat SL, Tele SL, B289V toggle) as the mute-mode member of the switch range.
