When Emílio da Silva Braga opened his stationery shop, it was considered one of the finest of its time. More than a century later, the family is still at it -- still sewing, still gluing, still hand-sponging the covers without a single piece of industrial equipment. Every notebook is sewn and glued using centuries-old techniques. The cover pattern you're looking at? It's called "cloud," and the edges of the paper are printed with a matching pattern -- still applied by hand with a sponge, exactly as they've always been done. This is the galocha -- the true Portuguese notebook.
