Dynaudio Emit 30 Floorstanding Speaker (Pair)
Dynaudio Emit 30 Floorstanding Speaker (Pair) Available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada, the Dynaudio Emit 30 is a compact 2.5-way floorstanding speaker that punches well above i ts entry-level positioning. Built to the same engineering standards as every Dynaudio speaker — tested in the same Jupiter measurement facility in Denmark used for the flagship Confidence range — the Emit 30 pairs twin in-house MSP woofers with the acclaimed Cerotar tweeter from the more expensive Evoke series. The result is a speaker What Hi-Fi? described as "detailed and composed... tonally smooth without sounding lifeless," and Hi-Fi+ called "a sophisticated design that cuts few corners." Sold as a pair. Twin MSP Woofers — Proprietary Dynaudio Technology The Emit 30 uses two 14cm woofers made from MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) — a cone material Dynaudio developed entirely in-house and has refined over decades across their full lineup, from entry-level to flagship. MSP delivers the precise balance of lightness, stiffness, and internal damping that Dynaudio engineers have tuned for control and outright power. In the Emit 30's 2.5-way configuration, one woofer covers bass and midrange up to 3,550Hz, while the second is low-passed at 1,000Hz for bass reinforcement alone — delivering more low-frequency authority than a conventional 2-way of the same cabinet size. Each cone is moulded in a single piece — no separate glued dust cap — with balance ribs bonded directly to the voice-coil to create one solid motor assembly. Every woofer is driven by a dual-stacked strontium carbonate Ferrite+ ceramic magnet system, trickled down from the award-winning Special Forty anniversary speaker, and uses copper-coated aluminium voice-coil windings on a two-layer glass-fibre former for maximum power and minimal moving mass. Cerotar Tweeter with Hexis Inner Dome High-frequency duties are handled by the Cerotar tweeter — identical to the unit used in Dynaudio's Evoke series and itself derived from the Esotar Forty and the Esotar Pro found in Dynaudio's Core professional studio monitors. The 28mm coated soft-dome diaphragm is engineered for ultra-clear, high-volume treble without breakup or listener fatigue. Behind the dome, Dynaudio's Hexis inner dome controls rear-wave airflow, eliminating resonances that would otherwise colour the high-frequency response. It is, as Dynaudio puts it, a tweeter that must be heard to be believed. Danish-Designed Cabinetry The Emit 30's cabinet is built from 18mm MDF and internally damped with polyester fibre — measured to the gram for exactly the right degree of resonance suppression. The rear bass port features dual flares (one inside, one outside) tuned to eliminate port chuffing at high output levels. Foam inserts are included for users who need to position the speakers close to the rear wall. Three laminate finishes are available — Black, White, and Walnut — designed for clean Scandinavian integration in any room. The Emit 30 has a 4Ω nominal impedance and 87dB sensitivity, with an IEC power handling rating of 180W. It works best with an amplifier rated at 50W or more into 4Ω — one that can deliver stable current rather than just high voltage. Reviewers consistently note the Emit 30 rewards amplifiers with headroom and control. What is a 2.5-way speaker and how does it differ from a 2-way? In a 2.5-way design, both woofers reproduce bass, but only one extends into the midrange. In the Emit 30, the upper woofer plays from 44Hz to 3,550Hz, while the lower woofer is low-passed at 1,000Hz for bass reinforcement only. This increases low-frequency output and dynamic headroom compared to a conventional 2-way, without the complexity of a 3-way crossover. Can the Dynaudio Emit 30 be used in a home cinema system? Yes. The Emit 30 is designed for both stereo and multi-channel use and can serve as front left/right speakers in a 5.1 or larger home cinema system. It pairs with the Emit 25C centre channel speaker and Emit 10 or 20 surround speakers for a tonally matched Dynaudio system throughout. How close to the wall can the Dynaudio Emit 30 be placed? As a rear-ported speaker, the Emit 30 generally performs best with 30–60cm of clearance from the rear wall. If wall placement is unavoidable, the included foam port inserts allow you to reduce bass output and tune the low-frequency balance for your specific room. What makes the Cerotar tweeter different from standard soft-dome tweeters? The Cerotar is derived from Dynaudio's Esotar Forty anniversary tweeter and the Esotar Pro used in professional studio monitors. Its 28mm coated soft-dome diaphragm is engineered for high-volume clarity without breakup, and the Hexis inner dome controls rear-wave resonances that typically colour high-frequency response in conventional dome tweeters.
