Emuna Tempranillo (Green Label) is a 100% Tempranillo red wine from Mendoza, Argentina, bottled at 750ml. This Green Label expression showcases the Tempranillo grape as cultivated in one of South America's most celebrated wine regions, offering a straightforward, fruit-forward interpretation of the varietal. Quick Facts: Varietal: 100% Tempranillo | Origin: Mendoza, Argentina | Style: Dry Red Wine | Size: 750ml Production & Heritage Emuna is an Argentine wine label producing varietal wines sourced from the Mendoza region, a high-altitude winemaking zone on the eastern foothills of the Andes renowned for its arid climate and intense sunlight. While Tempranillo is more famously associated with Spain's Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions, the grape has found a secondary home in Argentina, where warm days and cool nights at elevation allow for full phenolic ripeness while preserving natural acidity. Argentine wine law requires that a wine labeled with a single grape variety contain 100% of that grape, confirming the Green Label's purity of expression. Tasting Notes Aroma: Argentine Tempranillo from Mendoza typically opens with ripe red cherry and plum aromas, followed by subtle earthy undertones and hints of dried herbs. A faint note of vanilla or leather may emerge with aeration. Taste: On the palate, expect juicy red fruit at entry—cherry and raspberry—moving into a mid-palate of moderate tannins and gentle spice. The warm Mendoza climate tends to produce a rounded, medium-bodied profile with a soft, approachable structure. Finish: The finish is moderate in length, marked by lingering berry fruit and a subtle, dry tannic grip. A touch of warm spice and earth lingers as the wine fades. How to Drink Emuna Tempranillo This Tempranillo drinks well at cellar temperature, around 60–65°F, poured into a standard red wine glass that allows the aromatics to open up. Slight chilling for ten minutes in the refrigerator can tighten the fruit and add freshness in warmer weather. Sangria: Tempranillo's ripe fruit and balanced tannins make it a classic base for red sangria with citrus and stone fruit. Kalimotxo: This Spanish-origin cocktail of red wine and cola plays to Tempranillo's fruity, easygoing character. Red Wine Spritzer: Mixed with sparkling water and a citrus twist, the Green Label's fruit-forward profile keeps it lively and refreshing. Why Emuna Tempranillo? Tempranillo remains underexplored in Argentina despite the country's well-established winemaking infrastructure—most attention goes to Malbec. Emuna's Green Label offers a chance to experience this Spanish-origin grape as interpreted through Mendoza's high-altitude terroir, where intense sunlight and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts produce ripe, concentrated fruit. For drinkers looking to expand beyond the Malbec default, a 100% Tempranillo from Mendoza delivers a genuinely different expression of Argentine winemaking. It fills a useful niche as an everyday, food-friendly red that doesn't demand decanting or deliberation.
