Obtained from the leaves of a palm tree, this very light pale yellow wax is added to encaustic paint to raise the melting point, increase hardness and to make a more durable paint film. Use only a small amount to avoid making a brittle film that may crack. It melts at approximately 181 F. Available in thin, easy-to-melt flakes. Show more
