“Endurance in the Storm” Oil on stretched canvas 11” x 16” Endurance in the Storm marks my first oil painting. I followed a photo reference — but somewhere between blending the sky and deepening the waves, it became personal. The ocean represents seasons I couldn’t control. The sky represents surrender. And the small bird suspended above it all represents endurance — not escape. This piece isn’t about calm waters. It’s about staying lifted when the waters don’t calm. Oil taught me something in this process: you can’t rush blending. You have to let the layers move slowly, intentionally. That feels a lot like faith. This painting marks both a technical shift in my practice and a spiritual reminder — that endurance is not dramatic. It is steady. It is quiet. It is sustained. Show more
