Click here for Raspberry Care Guide Rubus idaeus – English Thornless Red Raspberry The English Thornless red raspberry is a spring-bearing variety known for its sweet fruit and thornless canes. This long-lived variety has been cultivated at our nursery for over 30 years. It ripens early, just a few days after black raspberries. Primocanes (mature canes) are thornless, though very young growth on plants in our 2-inch to quart pots may show small, fuzzy thorns — this is normal. Once fully mature, the primocanes will be completely thornless.Hardiness Zone: 6-8 Plant Characteristics Pest Resistance: Very Good Disease Resistance: Very Good Drought Tolerance: Good Heat Tolerance: Good Humidity Tolerance: Good Sun Tolerance: Good Wet Soil Tolerance: Poor Shade Tolerance: Good No Spray: Very Good Salt Tolerance: Poor Fresh for Kids: Very Good Deer Resistance: Fair Thorns: None Soil Type: Fertile Edible Type: Berry Self-Fertile: Yes This information is accurate to the best of our knowledge.
