Enstrom Helicopter Corporation was an American helicopter manufacturer, based at the Menominee–Marinette Twin County Airport in Michigan, United States. The company was founded in 1959 by mining engineer Rudolph J. "Rudy" Enstrom, initially as the R.J. Enstrom Corp. The Enstrom 280 was a light piston engine powered helicopters produced by Enstrom. It first flew in 1965 and over 1,200 were delivered. A total of 98 Enstrom 280FX Shark helicopters were built. The 280FX was produced up to mid-2003, increasing Enstrom's piston-engined helicopter production to 966, with two more 280s registered in early 2003.
