We have put together a handy little kit for those wanting to try their hand at spreading and pinning butterflies, moths, beetles and bugs. The kit includes the following (Does not include bugs): Foam Spreading Board: A simple EVA foam board with two matching pieces of foam that can be moved into position to fit the insect, then pinned into place. These are not perfect, but the best way to start to learn to pin as you can adjust the board to fit whichever insect you like. Duckbill Forceps (11 cm): Very handy for setting out insect specimens, and every entomologist or hobbyist should have a pair in their kit. Entomology Fine Pointed Forceps (12.5 cm): Constructed from stainless steel, these are ideal for precision handling. Insect Pins: These are provided in the most commonly used sizes to suit a variety of specimens. Fine-Tipped Syringe: Included for hydrating butterflies and moths to relax them for spreading. Instructions for using your kit, including pictures. Comes in a handy black carry bag You can also select an add-on packet (Does not include kit): Beginner butterflies (pack of 3) Beginner Beetles (pack of 3) Deluxe Pack - includes 3 larger/more colourful butterflies and 2 larger beetles. Please note that we do not guarantee specific insects in add-on packs. Insects should be in A1 to A1- condition - all parts accounted for, but occasionally an antenna or leg might detach in transit and can be easily repaired. Ethically & Sustainably Sourced Insects All of our insects are responsibly sourced. We only sell unprotected species from sustainable captive bred and wild sources. Our suppliers always have appropriate permits. They are sustainably raised and farmed in their native habitats by people indigenous to the same locale. This regulated practice gives local people the means to make an income. It also aids in the conservation and protection of at-risk rainforests and other habitats that these species depend on.
