Installation in the return is recommended to maintain accuracy. Adhere to VDI 2035 water quality requirements for long-term functionality. Suitable strainers should be installed to prevent particle debris. Split installation is possible with observance of the direction of flow for both components. Operating Mode: The HVAC performance device is comprised of three components: characterised control valve (CCV), measuring pipe with flow sensor, and the actuator itself. The adjusted maximum flow (V'max) is assigned to the maximum control signal (typically 100%). The device can be controlled via communicative signals. The fluid is detected by the sensor in the measuring pipe and applied as the flow value. The measured value is balanced with the setpoint, and the actuator corrects the deviation by changing the valve position. The angle of rotation varies according to the differential pressure through the control element. Calibration Certificate: Available in the Belimo Cloud for each device. It can be downloaded as a PDF through the Belimo Assistant App. Control Characteristics: The fluid velocity is measured in the measuring component and converted to a flow rate signal. The control signal corresponds to the power via the exchanger, regulating the flow in the EPIV. The control signal is converted into an equal-percentage characteristic curve and provided with the V'max value as the new reference variable. The momentary control deviation forms the control signal for the actuator. The precise flow sensor ensures stable control quality, although it is not suitable for rapid control processes like domestic water control. Fluid Temperature Measurement: The temperature sensor integrated into the flow sensor permanently measures the medium temperature. The measured value can be read via the bus system or the analogue feedback signal. The current measured value is also displayed in the Belimo Assistant App. Creep Flow Suppression: Electronically overrides the very low flow speed in the opening point that the sensor cannot measure within the required tolerance. Converter for Sensors: Connection option for a sensor (active or with switching contact), allowing the analogue sensor signal to be digitised and transferred to the bus systems BACnet, Modbus, or MP-Bus. Control Signal Inversion: Inverts the control signal in cases where the standard behaviour needs reversing. For example, at a control signal of 0%, regulation is to V'max, and the valve is closed at a control signal of 100%. Hydronic Balancing: Maximum flow rate can be adjusted on-site with Belimo tools. If integrated into the management system, balancing can be handled directly by the system. Combination Analogue-Communicative (Hybrid Mode): Uses conventional control by an analogue control signal with communicative position feedback via BACnet, Modbus, or MP-Bus. Glycol Monitoring: Measures the actual glycol content to ensure safe operation and optimised heat exchange. Error Readout with Analogue Position Feedback: Indicates sensor errors by 0.3 V at the position feedback U, only if the feedback U is set to flow and the lower value of the signal range is 0.5 V or more. High Functional Safety: The actuator is overload protected, requires no limit switches, and automatically stops when the end stop is reached. Safety Notes: The device is designed for use in stationary heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems and must not be used outside the specified field of application, such as in aircraft or any airborne means of transport. Outdoor application is only possible if conditions such as no (sea) water, snow, ice, insolation, or aggressive gases interfering directly with the device are met, and ambient conditions remain within the specified thresholds. Installation notes: Flow Direction: The direction of flow, specified by an arrow on the housing, must be complied with to ensure correct flow rate measurement. Inlet Section: A flow-calming section or inflow section in the direction of the flow must be provided upstream from the flow sensor to achieve the specified measuring accuracy. The dimensions should be at least 5x DN. Split Installation: The valve-actuator combination may be mounted separately from the flow sensor, with observance of the direction of flow for both components. Minimum Differential Pressure: The minimum required differential pressure for achieving the desired volumetric flow V'max can be calculated with the theoretical kvs value and the desired maximum flow rate. Behaviour in Case of Sensor Failure: In case of a flow sensor error, the EPIV will switch from flow control to position control. Once the error disappears, the EPIV will switch back to the normal control setting.
