Base Layer 2–6mm SBR rubber granules Thickness: 20mm to 115mm, depending on required critical fall height Binder ratio: 10% by weight Mixed for 3–4 minutes in a force‑action mixer for full granule coating Lightly trowelled — not compacted — to maintain optimal impact absorption Wearing Course (EPDM Layer) Minimum depth: 15mm, or 20mm when used as a single layer Binder ratio: 20% by weight, or 25% when using recycled‑back EPDM Finished using a screed bar, hand trowel and ideally a steel roller for a smooth, consistent surface Supersol release agent recommended for clean, efficient finishing Subbase Compatibility Suitable for: Macadam Concrete Compacted MOT Type 1 or Type 3 For non‑porous subbases, adequate drainage must be installed prior to application. Curing Conditions Polyurethane binders are moisture‑curing. Approximate cure time: ~6 hours at 25°C and 50% RH Lower temperatures extend cure time; higher temperatures reduce it Installation should be avoided during wet or rainy conditions Cleaning & Maintenance To keep EPDM chippings looking its best and performing safely, a simple maintenance routine is recommended: Clean regularly using mains‑pressure water, a stiff brush and a pH‑neutral detergent Remove organic debris promptly to prevent pore blockage and algae growth Treat stains with warm water and mild detergent; heavier oil marks may be reduced with methylated spirits In snow or ice, use a brush or rubber scraper — avoid metal tools, de‑icers and salt EPDM chippings are a non‑hazardous system when used with appropriate PPE.
