Epimedium leptorrhizum hails from Guizhou and Sichuan, China. This little-known species that is essentially a dwarf, running Epimedium brachyrrhizum. Spreading by slender rhizomes (leptos = slender), Epimedium leptorrhizum can expand by 8" per year. The 8" tall clump is topped in late March (NC) with short flower spikes of large, pink-lavender flowers, often with contrasting lighter purple spurs. Epimedium leptorrhizum prefers not to get bone-dry for long periods. Show more
