It goes without saying, but there's just something special about an old Epiphone Riviera that makes these guitars so coveted from players and collectors alike. This one hails from 1967 has all of its period-correct features and parts. Original chrome plated hardware throughout (including the ABR1 bridge and Frequensator tailpiece) and the original patent sticker mini humbuckers, as well as all original plastics (pickguard, knobs, switch tip, and truss rod cover). The original sunburst finish is in excellent condition and essentially unfaded. Minimal lacquer checking throughout, with clean body and fingerboard binding to boot. Show us a cleaner example! We dare you! One look at this guitar and you know you're in ES-335 territory, and it's not wrong to think that. Where the Riviera sets itself apart is the mini humbuckers- think leaner, brighter, with less mid punch. These pickups have a great richness to the tone but with great clarity. Crank the amp or add your favorite overdrive pedal into the mix, and the guitar absolutely sings, with a bit more bite and presence than some of its Gibson counterparts. The guitar has factory out-of-phase wiring in the middle position, which can be altered for a more traditional middle position tone, or left as-is for something a bit more unique. Condition: Excellent. In all seriousness, vintage examples this clean don't pop up very often. No breaks, cracks or repairs to be found. Original finish, pickups, wiring, and hardware. Original frets are in very good condition with plenty of life left in them. Very light wear on the back of the body.
