Robert Emmet (1778-1803) was an Irish patriot. One of his last speeches ends with: 'Let no man write my epitaph.....When my country takes her place among the nations of the earth, then, and not till then, let my epitaph be written. I have done."In 1803, he lead a failed rebellion against Dublin Castle. He was arrested soon after and charged with high treason.
