Willi Brundlmayer utilizes choice Pinot Noir from the Kamptal's top vineyards, Dechant and Käferberg, for this reserve red made in the best years. The Dechant vineyard soils are composed of calcareous loess-clay and clay with ancient rock and gravel deposits higher up on the south-east facing slope. The Käferberg vineyard is located at the top of an eastern slope – about 300 meters above sea level – in the town of Langenlois. The soil is layers of sand, primary rock and calcareous marine deposits. This exceptional terroir produces fruit that rivals that of the greatest villages in Burgundy. After 3 weeks of maceration, the wine is moved to small neutral casks to age for at least a year. "A stunning Austrian pinot noir that you could easily mistake for a Burgundian Premier Cru.
