Es Torrente figs grow on trees with 5-lobed leaves with straight margins. The leaves are “thick” and have a compact shape, without long fingers. Es Torrente figs have a round shape, and will ripen mid-season (depending on growing conditions). These trees are typically slow growers in their first few seasons, but tend to pick up steady growth and become productive fruit producers as the years go on. Es Torrente is a common type, not requiring wasp pollination to ripen figs. The variety originally comes from Ibiza, Spain, and was introduced to the fig growing community by Theirry of Figues du Monde. Es Torrente is a delicious fig, from the chewy skin and jammy texture, to the strawberry and mixed berry flavor. This variety grows to medium size, at about 50-60 grams per fig. Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December): We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. **All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees. Rooted Cuttings(Spring): We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span.
