Produces heavy crops of crisp, juicy bi-coloured apples with a refreshing balance of sweet and tart flavours; harvest in late October to November. Thrives in a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, free-draining soil, making it ideal for south or west-facing boundaries. Supplied as a dormant bare root tree for winter planting; soak roots for two hours before planting in a hole dug wide enough to accommodate the root system without bending. Suitable for patio growing in large containers (minimum 40cm diameter or 35 litres); use a loam-based compost such as John Innes No. 3 and ensure the pot has adequate drainage. Trained as an Espalier, featuring pairs of horizontal branches trained from a central vertical stem, perfect for growing flat against walls or fences to maximise yield in limited spaces.
