Provide bumble bees a safe haven in your backyard with the Esschert Design Bumble Bee House. Offering these large bees a shelter invites them to stay in your garden, acting as pollinators for your favorite flowers. The dual chambers on this piece create plenty of room for a colony, and the 0.625" diameter entry is the perfect size for bumble bees. This entrance, formed by a plastic tube, directs the bees into the first chamber of the home, used by the worker bees. A smaller opening inside the unit leads to the second apartment, which houses the queen and eggs. Ventilation holes on its back panel keep the temperature regulated, while screening along it creates places for the young bees to cling while keeping other flying insects out. A pitched roof covers the home, and its silver colored, metal sheeting contrasts the soft green body. Lift this roof upward to check the bees, and latch it closed to protect them from predators. The flat base sits on a level surface in your backyard, ideally with exposure to the morning sun and partial shade the rest of the day. The wooden body furthers the natural look, and helps attract the bees to the area. Create a place for bumble bees to safely spend the winter with this Bumble Bee House. Dimensions: 11.25"L x 6.875"W x 6"H Mounting: place on level surface Construction: wood, metal, plastic
