This painting is called “Eternally Free”. It’s of a view that I saw when I hiked to a pinnacle in the Blue Ridge Mountains near my home. I was so inspired by the playful, undulatin g clouds. They felt light and free and the mountains felt eternal and endless. All these qualities together remind me of the human soul at its best - free, joyful, and eternal. It resonated very deeply for me. It is also a love letter to the Blue Ridge Mountains and all the people who live there. Since we went through the Hurricane Helene disaster, I feel closer to everyone who lived through it with me. When I painted this, I wanted everyone who is recovering to know that deep down, our spirits are still as light and free as those clouds.
