A late afternoon swim in the lagoon at Lady Elliot Island and I was rewarded with an encounter with a very relaxed green turtle. These beautiful creatures are on the IUCN (International Union of the Conservation of Nature) Red List of Threatened Species and listed as Endangered. The low angle of the sun made for an ethereal backdrop of glistening corals and dancing light rays.
