Relatively young by most standards—having been created in 2007—Tenuta di Fessina has nonetheless made their mark on Sicilian wine. Farming (and opperating a small guest house) on t he northeastern side of Mount Etna, the estate is helmed by Silvia Maestrelli, who sees herself as a protector of the history and culture of the region. Ersa is light ruby in color, round and spicy with wild berries, coriander, cloves, and pink peppercorn produced from a blend of both red and white grapes—90% Nerello Mascalese, 8% Nerello Cappuccio, and 2% being made up of Minnella and Carricante in this case.
