Eucalyptus, Silver Dollar (Eucalyptus cinerea) Silver Dollar Eucalyptus is a fast-growing evergreen tree prized for its distinctive round, silver-blue foliage and aromatic leaves. Native to southeastern Australia, it is widely grown for ornamental use, floral arrangements, windbreaks, and fragrant garden plantings. The striking juvenile foliage, often harvested for bouquets and wreaths, adds unique texture and color to both landscapes and cut flower gardens. Key Characteristics Silver-blue foliage with year-round ornamental appealThe rounded juvenile leaves are covered in a waxy blue-gray coating that gives the plant its signature silvery appearance. These striking leaves provide strong contrast in the landscape and are highly sought after for fresh and dried floral arrangements. Aromatic leaves rich in essential oilsLike many eucalyptus species, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus produces highly fragrant foliage containing aromatic oils. Traditionally, eucalyptus leaves have been used in steam inhalations, sachets, and decorative applications where their refreshing scent can be appreciated. Fast-growing structure for screening and wind protectionIn warm climates, this species grows rapidly into a small to medium-sized tree. Its dense evergreen canopy can be used for privacy screens, windbreaks, and creating shelter in larger landscapes and regenerative farm systems. Valuable cut foliage for floral productionSilver Dollar Eucalyptus is one of the most popular eucalyptus species grown for cut stems. The foliage dries exceptionally well, making it a staple for wreath making, dried arrangements, and floral design projects.
