A throwback for the Willamette Valley, this cap hearkens back to the 1955 Eugene Emeralds, reproduced in all its glory by Seattle-based Ebbets Field Flannels. Six-panel wool cap 3" visor with green satin lining Adjustable brown leather strap and nickel hardware Felt lettering The 1955 Eugene Emeralds 1955 was the inaugural season for the Emeralds, led by manager (and first baseman) Cliff Dapper. They played class-B ball, a charter team for the Northwest League. They won the second half of the season and then defeated the first half winner, Salem, in the championship playoffs 4 games to 2. Em's pitcher George Storti went 15-6 that year, leading the league with a sparkling 2.26 ERA. Dapper was the only member of the team to ever play major league ball, with a short stint at catcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers several years earlier in 1942. Of course, at this time, the Em's were still playing at Bethel Park, located at the corner of Roosevelt and Maple. The park was demolished for a highway project, never completed, and the outfield is known as Lark Park today. If you have pictures of the original field at Bethel Park, we'd love to see 'em.
