Delicate in appearance, this style of elegant alabaster cosmetic vessel was trendy during the time of Hatshepsut. The fine, thin walls and the rounded body hollowed to conform with the vessel's sides make an excellent container for perfumed lotions, while the wide, open rim allowed easy access. Cosmetic containers such as this example were luxury items designed to delight the senses of its owner.
