Even Here18" x 24", acrylic on canvasPainted by Steph Whittaker (b. 1981)(Frame not included)This piece is part of a new series where I’m stretching my visual language. Tuesday was my day off, and I painted freely—no pressure. Just me, God, and a brush.Creating is therapy. It’s where thoughts rise, emotions breathe, and healing flows between each stroke. This is a painting of a drummer boy in the midst of grunge. I was born and raised in places surrounded by grunge walls, poverty, struggle—but also triumph. This piece represents resilience. It speaks of someone who keeps practicing, even in hard times, of the hood and its endless possibilities.Because no matter where you are in the world, God can give you the strength to tap into your best—even in your hardest moments. That’s where He/She does His/Her best work in us.It’s easier said than done…but that’s what was in my heart as I painted. 🤎As I painted, I felt God’s presence not confined to ‘He’ or ‘She,’ but the fullness of both. We’re made in God’s image, after all—every one of us. This original painting includes the artist’s signature on both the front and back. The title and date of completion are also inscribed on the back of the artwork. Each original painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a personalized, hand-written note from the artist, adding a heartfelt touch to every purchase.
