The light softens over the moor and a shepherd and his collie make one last check on the flock before the day gives out. Heather runs gold and purple all the way to the ridges, the sky has started to turn, and the whole valley has gone quiet in the way that high ground does at that hour. The sheep are settling. The dog is watching the shepherd. Nothing here is in any hurry. Heather is the difficulty. An enormous area of gold and purple that separates only by tone, with the ridgelines running through it to guide you and very little else to hold on to. Build the sky first, then the ridges, then work down into the ground. The dog and the sheep are the reward at the end rather than the beginning. A demanding puzzle disguised as a peaceful one, which is part of why people come back to it.
