Emerger patterns are kind of the odd duck in the fly pattern world. They are meant to sit in the subsurface the very top section of the water column. Most emerger patterns end up s inking as they travel downstream, unlike real emergers which rise. The Everfloat Caddis is the emerger pattern that will not sink on you.
